Portaprompt is delighted to be part of the Broadcast Video Expo formerly Video Forum again in 2009. Broadcast Video Expo for Portaprompt is indeed the Springboard for the company’s sales and activities for the year to come. The Exhibition is the UK’s biggest and best technology event, attracting attendees from all sections of the media market place and is therefore an ideal shop window for Portaprompt’s full range of  prompting products. BVE always gets Portaprompt off to a flying start for the year ahead for both prompting sales and prompting hire. It sets the tone for our attendance for the bigger exhibitions at NAB, Las Vegas and IBC Amsterdam.

Portaprompt have been manufacturers of Broadcasting equipment since 1963. Showcasing again this year at the Broadcast Video Expo the lightest and brightest Portable Prompting equipment the market has to offer through innovative design, research and development.

In 2006 Portaprompt’s innovative Nano-Prompter was the recipient of the 14th annual Prestigious Mario Award at NAB. Organised in 1993, the Mario Awards were established to recognise manufacturers whose products represent significant technical breakthroughs¾ many of these products have gone on to significantly impact the future of video technology. The awards are named after Mario Orazio, a pseudonym for a nameless engineer and a renowned technology columnist for TV Technology who pens the industry’s most widely read column “The Masked Engineer.” The awards are given out annually at the NAB convention to companies that demonstrate forward thinking and technical excellence in their products.

Launching  this year at BVE is the New range of Quasar high bright low weight Green LED on camera flat screen prompters.

The  New 15” high bright LED 1500 nit  on camera unit will be showcasing alongside the New 9” 400 nit high bright LED on camera unit.

The 15” lightweight LED unit uses only 2.9 amps instead of the 4.55 amps of the conventional unit giving a huge saving on power and heat, saving 36% of battery power whilst working on field locations. The 15” LED is more robust, with higher brightness and contrast and longer panel life.

Also on the show the full Quasar LCD range

of ultra bright and ultra light TFT colour on camera teleprompter units in FIVE sizes 10.5, 12”, 15”, 17” & 20”  (up to 1600 Nits & 100-250volts AC 12VDC). Designed without a fan for silent running  and suitable for Location, Studio and Virtual Studio use. Lightweight therefore ideal for robotic head mounting with an improved on-camera tilt range. Automatic PAL/NTSC signal detection with auto-terminating BNC loop-through and VGA input. The flat panel displays have been engineered to obtain the very highest brightness and contrast. The displays are suitable for on-camera prompting units, conference glass stand units or direct reading monitors. WinDigi Lite and WinDigi - innovative prompting software for all productions environments and budgets.

WinDigi, WinDigi Lite and Lite Plus are versions of our powerful WinDigi prompting software packages for Windows.  They have been introduced to suit the requirements of large and small operations that require the power of a smooth scrolling windows prompting software.  No special graphics card is required as the software uses the standard video card supplied with your PC.  True Type® fonts are scaled giving large easy-to-read characters which are smoothly scrolled with a controller.  The WinDigi range of prompting products have been developed by Portaprompt who have over twenty five years of experience in the field of prompting sales and hire. The WinDigi Editor uses Rich Text Format making it compatible with all the world’s leading word processors. The text can be formatted and styled, by using underlining, bold, italics, colour, centering, indenting, justification and bullet points, making the WinDigi range the most powerful yet affordable prompter Portaprompt has developed to date.

New for BVE

An improved Touch Screen MOS and FTP version of Portaprompt’s WinDigi prompting software specifically written and designed to interface with ENPS’s Media Server Communications Protocol (MOS) and Inews. This tight integration with WinDigi via the MOS and FTP protocols enables ENPS and Inews to control all the features of the WinDigi prompter automatically so improving the efficiency of the prompting function in a busy newsroom environment. Using the MOS and FTP Active X implementation WinDigi can remotely access any run-order, or start at any story in the run-order.
